Angel Island
Knuckles the Echidna lives on an Island on Mobius called Angel Island. He guards over the master emerald with his closest friend, June the Echidna. The master emerald was entrusted to them by Sonic's mother, Aleena. However, Sonic never knew this.
June has a father called Luger who is at quite an old age, and he is looked after by his daughter.
"Father! How are you feeling?" asked June.
"I'm fine my beautiful daughter." replied Luger.
June poured some fresh water in a pot and handed it over to her dad.
"Here you go dad." she said.
"Thank you daughter."
Knuckles was watching over the seas, as he continued doing his duty of protecting the master emerald.
"Somebody's coming!" he yelled.
It seemed that Dr. Robotnik had sent his loyal companions (Sleet and Dingo), to Angel Island. Dingo disguised as a boat, as they both travel over the South sea. The two of them had brought some swatbots with them in case Knuckles would reject their offer and attack them. In the distance, Tails was having fun flying in the Tornado. When they arrived, Knuckles halted them.
"Stop right there! What do you think you're doing? Are you trying to still this gem?" Knuckles asked furiously.
"Actually, we have very important information for you." Sleet said.
"Mmm... What would that be, exactly?" he asked.
"We have come here to warn you. There is somebody in our region that is after your master emerald..."
"It's you, isn't it?" Knuckles laughed.
"No, it's not us. This somebody, he's a little pest, he attacks us all the time. And he want's your emerald so badly." Sleet said.
"Get to the point! Who is it?!" Knuckles shouted.
"Sonic."
"Who on Mobius is he?"
"You'll find out. But you will have to trust me first."
"How can I?" Knuckles asked.
"Trust me. If you follow me to Prison Island, we can protect your gem over there. If Sonic attacks our boss's base, that means he's after your gem. Sonic will find out where the master emerald is so easily because he can run across an entire Island in seconds."
"Well... If it's to protect the master emerald then... Show me the way." he said.
Dingo transformed into a boat again and then Sleet took Knuckles across the sea. Knuckles picked up the master emerald before leaving as June waved goodbye.
"Don't lose it Knuckles!" June exclaimed.
"You can always count on me!" Knuckles replied happily.
Prison Island
"Still workin' on that robot, doctor?" Shadow asked.
"Don't be cheeky. Yes. Yes I am. And I will make it to PERFECTION!" shouted Robotnik.
"Well, I'll leave you to it."
Shadow turned around and closed the door. He was interested to see how Metal Sonic would turn out.
Green Hills
"Sonic! I saw something when I was flying in the Tornado!" Tails screamed.
"Shut up Tails!" Sonic shouted.
"No, it's important!"
"Tell me. What did you see?" Sonic said.
"Sleet and Dingo. I saw them sail off to somewhere. They had a few swatbots with them too."
"Yeah. What's the whole point of you telling me this?" he asked.
"Don't you think now would be a good time to make an attack on Robotnik? He has a few less swatbots with him and he hasn't got Sleet and Dingo!"
"Actually Tails... I think you're right! Now would be the perfect time to stop Dr. Robotnik!" Sonic exclaimed.
So Sonic grabbed Tails' arm and began to run. He headed in a straight direction and took the root that leads to Prison Island.
Prison Island
Sonic was dashing so quickly that he managed to arrive there before Sleet, Dingo and Knuckles. Sonic rushed into the main department, then he ran into the automatic lift with Tails.
"Where is this man?" Tails asked.
"I reckon he'll be on the top floor." Sonic replied.
After the lift had made it to the top, Sonic and Tails went outside of Robotnik's room and peaked in through the indoor windows.
"How did you know he was here Sonic?" asked Tails.
Sonic shrugged his shoulders, "Lucky guess."
Sonic barged in through the doorway and skidded.
"You! Master of Evil!" Sonic shouted.
"Sonic?! Why you nasty little PINCUSION!" Robotnik screamed.
"That's right doctor! You're not getting away with anything!"
Mushroom Hill
"Are we there yet!? What is this nonsense? I didn't know we were going to another planet!" Knuckles shouted.
"We're not going to another planet! And yes, we're nearly there." Sleet said calmly.
"Good. Hey, if that 'Sonic guy' doesn't arrive, I will smash you up, BAD STYLE."
"Don't worry. I know you're worried about that precious gem. Nobody can touch it as long as Dr. Robotnik is around."
"Who is he?"
"He's my boss. A real nice guy."
"I don't trust words." Knuckles said.
Prison Island
"Your time is already over Robotnik!" Sonic exclaimed.
But then, suddenly, Sleet, Dingo, Knuckles and a few extra swatbots arrive.
"Not so fast you!" Knuckles yelled.
"Oh ho ho ho ho ho ho!" Robotnik screamed.
"So it's true. Sonic did want the master emerald - that's why he came here. In fact, he wanted it so badly that he got here before us!" Knuckles said.
"What???" said Sonic and Tails.
"That's right! I won't let you take the master emerald from me!" Knuckles shouted.
Angel Island
June was finding some good rocks to start her fire with. As she was walking by, her father Luger came and stopped her.
"What are you doing June?" asked Luger.
"I was busy collecting some stones to start a fire for lunch." she replied.
"Where's Knuckles? Where's the master emerald?"
"He has gone to some place called Prison Island and he took the master emerald with him."
"What... Did you just say?!" Luger asked furiously.
"He had to. We were told that someone was after the master emerald. He went there in order to protect it and find out the truth."
"You know I'm angry with you daughter, don't you?" he asked.
"Um... well... Now I do." she said.
"That Knux is in big trouble when he gets back. If he loses that master emerald..."
Prison Island
"I see you got a new friend, Robotnik!" Sonic exclaimed.
Knuckles interrupts, "Hey! Know that this partnership is only temporary. Once I've protected the master emerald from you, I won't be keeping any alliances!"
Knuckles attacks Sonic as he dashes in with his huge fists. But Sonic manages to avoid by sprinting around him. Tails flew above, dropping bombs on top of the swatbots. Robotnik was sat inside of his egg-mobile whilst keeping control of the robots.
