Yes, it's true. Sonic the hedgehog doesn't have the nicest fanbase. Many of them share horrible fanarts and promote the stupidest fan fictions. However, I think we can all agree that every fanbase has toxicity. It's not just Sonic.
Being a Sonic fan myself, I kind of get the gist of what these guys are like. Most fans of Sonic the Hedgehog are extremely passionate about the topic but to an extent where they might irritate others. Even Sonic fans don't all get along because of this. Every Sonic fan wants to be the no.1 Sonic fan in the world. A lot of them usually compete with each other in terms of their knowledge on Sonic. Truth is, knowing every single thing about Sonic would be lame and pointless unless you were the creator of it.
On the other hand, there are some that enjoy the Sonic franchise who really aren't that bad. Even there are still some who are really passionate about it but don't spread toxicity.
Something to know about Sonic the Hedgehog fans is that they have a habit of always trying their best to promote the Sonic franchise. Also, if there are ever any debates that include Sonic (for e.g, Mario vs Sonic), the fans will all go and make sure that Sonic wins.
Many Sonic fans enjoy creating and sharing fanart. Sonic the Hedgehog has the most fan projects and fan characters of all gaming franchises. This simply shows how much Sonic fans really enjoy Sonic the Hedgehog.
